Looking SWW at close on 8 pm on Sunday, March6. The Pleiades open cluster is clearly visible top left. (John Vetterlein: Nkkor 24mm f/2.8, A 4 sec. exposure D100 SLR at ISO500.)

There was an exceptionally active display of the aurora from about 19h UT. At times the entire sky was lit to the strength of a full Moon.

There were fine examples of the corona overhead with much of the eastern and western sky “ablaze” in green — showing mostly “white” to the unaided eye.
