Advocacy Orkney to offer human rights training

With today being Human Rights Day, Advocacy Orkney have announced that will be offering Human Rights training to all interested parties in Orkney next year.

Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10, which was the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year is the 70th anniversary of the campaign.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document that proclaimed the rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being, irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

The principles enshrined in the declaration are as relevant today as they were in 1948 and as a testimony to this Advocacy Orkney adopts a Human Rights-based approach to its provision of Independent Advocacy.

In 2018, the service will be offering training in Orkney. This may be beneficial to Employers, Volunteer Groups, Students, Third Sector and Statutory Agencies.

Advocacy Orkney received their training directly from The Scottish Human Rights Commission in association with the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance and would welcome the opportunity to pass their knowledge on

Interested parties can contact Advocacy Orkney on 01856 870111 and ask for the Service Manager or via email at info@advocacyorkney.org.
