Aircraft pilot ‘uninjured’ after emergency landing

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on farmland close to Wideford Hill this afternoon.

Police Scotland say the aircraft came down near Kirkwall shortly after 2.15pm on Friday.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and uninjured, according to police.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been made aware.
