Airlifted diver dies in hospital
At 12.40pm on Sunday, October 30, police were alerted to reports of an unresponsive diver who had been airlifted from Scapa Flow and taken to the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall.
The 53-year-old man, who was believed to have been diving around one of the wrecks in Scapa Flow, was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.
A full report on the circumstances, which do not appear to be suspicious, have been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
No further details will be issued until all next of kin have been informed.
