Birsay footballers secure Parish Cup final spot

Birsay secured their place in the final of the 2013 The Orcadian Parish Cup with a 1-0 win over Sanday this afternoon.

The hard-fought victory — played in front of a large crowd in Dounby — gave Birsay a 2-1 win on aggregate.

Both sides came close to scoring on numerous occasions in what was an end-to-end semi-final. In the end, though, it was an unfortunate own goal that sent Birsay through to the final.

The second semi-final is due to be played tomorrow evening, with Holm taking on St Ola at the Rockworks at 7pm.
