Body recovered north west of Orkney
Police have confirmed that the body of a man was recovered from the sea by a fishing vessel 25 miles north west of Orkney on Sunday.
A police statement said that formal identification has not taken place, but the family of fisherman Craig Reid who went missing on April 18 have been made aware.
The statement added: “There is no further information at this time and enquiries are ongoing.”
It was on Monday, April 18, that a major air and sea search operation was launched west of Orkney when Mr Reid was reported overboard from the trawler Apollo.
The search, in gale force winds, was later called off, as there was no trace of the missing man.
