Book signing for new Orkney title
Local author William Thomson will be signing copies of his latest book in The Orcadian Bookshop this afternoon, Saturday.
Orkney Crofters in Crisis focuses on the Napier Commission, a Royal Commission set up around 150 years ago to look into the dire plight of crofters in the Highlands and Islands.
The commission toured the area, taking evidence from crofters about inflated rents – in front of the landlords – and the book focuses on the Orkney hearings.
The books signing takes place in the Albert Street bookshop from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
