Breckan takes the double at mart show

Two pure Limousin cattle exhibited by Ian Sclater, of Breckan, Evie, took the two top prizes at today’s show of grazing cattle at Orkney Auction Mart.

The prize for champion steer went to an animal born on April 23 last year, sired by Sclaters Jaguar and out of a homebred heifer.

The champion heifer title went to a mid-March-born twin, out of a homebred heifer and by the AI bull Dinmore Goldcrest.

The show was sponsored by Orkney Livestock Association and today’s judge was Tankerness farmer, Balfour Baillie.

A special sale of store cattle followed this morning’s show.
