BT report phone service outages

BT customers in Orkney may have seen an outage in their service this afternoon, after a fault occurred at an exchange on the Scottish mainland.

BT spokesman said: “A transmission fault at an exchange in Inverness resulted in the reduction in phone services for some customers in Orkney on Monday afternoon.

“BT engineers worked quickly to restore phone services to the affected communities. Local calls would have been possible during the short outage and broadband services were not affected. We’re sorry for any disruption caused.”

BT has reported that the outage was fixed by 2:40pm and urge anyone still experiencing problems to contact their service provider.
