Burray’s viking standing tall again

Burray’s “viking” totem pole is standing tall again, after vandals attempted to topple it earlier this month.

Sometime between March 18-19, a determined attempt was made to rip the carved wooden pole, which stands sentinel over the beach at the fourth barrier, out of the ground — with what looks to have been a length of cable attached to a vehicle!

But the attempt failed and the pole was left at an angle, but still in the ground.

Members of the community gathered last night, Thursday, March 30, and set to work restoring the viking.
