Cattle champion and reserve titles go to Upper Onston
Liam Muir of Upper Onston Farm, Stenness, attained a lifetime ambition at the today’s Dounby Show by lifting both the champion and reserve trophies in the cattle section for the first time.
The champion was a homebred Limousin-cross calf – one of the first crop of calves to be sired by a pure Limousin bull Goldie iPad that Liam bought in Stirling two years ago.
The reserve, a pure Limousin heifer was also the champion continental, sired by a full French bull called Sympa, out of a cow sired by Cleuchhead Lord, a prominent cow in the Limousin breed, bought in Carlisle in June.
Afterwards Liam said: “We’ve been champion here before and we’ve been reserve, but we have never had them both. I am really delighted.”
