Clinical Orkney stick six past Ardrossan
Orkney’s hockey ladies marched into the third round of the Scottish District Cup, seeing off Ardrossan Ladies in an emphatic 6-1 victory.
Orkney put their opponents, who are sitting mid-table in the West Division 1, to the sword in an enterprising and clinical first 35 minutes.
Raeann Hutchison opened the scoring for the defending champions, before Ardrossan levelled matters in the early stages.
Orkney grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck however and they went into the break 5-1 up, courtesy of a hat-trick from a Lauren Gilmour and Claire Irvine.
Ardrossan improved after the break, however Aimee Drever extended Orkney’s lead further.
Orkney’s next District Cup match is now in the new year.
