Collection point for Orkney Foodbank

Tesco supermarket in Kirkwall is to establish a permanent collection point for donations to the Orkney Foodbank — a charity which supplies emergency food to people in crisis.

Rhoda Walker, Orkney Foodbank secretary, said: “We are delighted that Tescos have agreed to allow us to establish a permanent collection point for foods to be donated by the public for Orkney Foodbank.

“The Foodbank is finding there is a real need locally to provide emergency food parcels to those in need in the Orkney community and therefore there is the requirement to ensure we always have the essential food items required.

“We anticipate delivery of the collection point items and publicity over the next few weeks with the ‘go live’ date being  April 9.”
