Council interviews for senior management posts

Interviews for three senior management posts within Orkney Islands Council are due to take place today and tomorrow, Tuesday.

Two special full council meetings will be held in the council offices to interview for executive directors of education, leisure and housing, corporate services, and development and infrastructure. The post of executive director, Orkney Health and Care, is already filled on an interim basis by Cathie Cowan, chief executive of NHS Orkney.

The meetings follow a decision by the full council last month to reduce the senior management team from 34 to 18 in the number of chief officer posts — resulting in annual savings of £1.16 million.

In addition to the executive directors there will be 13 heads of service.

The council declined to comment on the individual candidates applying for the posts.
