Councillors approve ‘Hope housing plans

Orkney Islands councillors have approved an application to build 12 semi-detached houses in  St Margaret’s Hope.

The build will also create new parking areas, footpaths and cycleways at the site, which is in the area between Church Road and St Margaret’s Road.

There was one objector, who cited several reasons, including the loss of a public right of way.

However, councillors were presented with evidence that the right of way was not heavily used and had become overgrown.

The committee went with the official recommendation and approved the application.
