Dispelling the myths surrounding the vikings

The director of the Centre for Nordic Studies, Professor Donna Heddle, is heading to Inverness this week, attempting to dispel perceptions that the vikings were violent savages.

Professor Heddle’s lecture, entitled From the fury of the Norsemen, good Lord, deliver us?, explores the perceived and real effects the Norse had in Scotland.

The event, at the UHI’s Executive Office, Ness Walk, Inverness, is from 5.15pm to 7pm on Thursday, and is open to the public.

For those who can’t make it to Inverness, fear not. Professor Heddle will be presenting the lecture again in the Kirkwall Town Hall on December 5.
