Diver treated in chamber

Coastguards were alerted by the crew of a dive boat earlier today, Thursday, who informed them that they were heading for Kirkwall with a diver onboard who was showing symptoms of decompression sickness.

A Coastguard spokesman said that the Kirkwall Coastguard Rescue Team and an ambulance met the Halton at Kirkwall Harbour this morning.

The diver was then transferred to the decompression chamber in Stromness.
