Do you need a proxy vote?
Final advice has been issued for people who need a proxy vote for the May 3 Local Government Election.
Anyone who has missed the deadline for postal vote applications and can’t attend a polling station on May 3, can still arrange for someone to vote on their behalf.
It is still possible to apply to the Orkney Electoral Registration Office for a proxy vote, up until 5pm on Wednesday April 25.
Dennis Stevenson, assistant electoral registration officer for Orkney, said: “It’s important people contact us right away to arrange this as the deadline is only a matter of days away. It’s also important that folk choose their proxy carefully – remember, they will need to vote on your behalf at your polling station.
“So if you are an isles resident, your proxy will need to be able to get to the mainland polling station for your ward on May 3.”
Details of wards and polling station are on polling cards. Polling stations for each ward are also listed here.
