Education Summit Meets In Orkney
Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Angela Constance, is in Orkney today to lead an education summit between council leaders, councillors and officers from Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles.
The summit, set to take place at Orkney College will, according to Orkney Islands Council, involve attendees working together to look at key issues around the curriculum and resources in a way that is relevant to the needs of island learners, helping them get the jobs that local employers need and if possible encourage them to remain within the island, making the communities more resilient and sustainable.‪
The information gathered during the summit will then be used to develop a joint action plan for education in the island authorities.
