Election Court continues with witness evidence

The Election Court hearing, challenging the election of MP Alistair Carmichael, is due to resume for evidence today, Monday, November 9.

The petition raised by four local constituents is challenging the election of the Liberal Democrat MP for Orkney and Shetland.

For the first time in Scotland, the proceedings were broadcast live when the case called in September.

STV are now set to stream the final part of the proceedings online at stv.tv later in the week, when submissions are made by counsel. These will follow any evidence given by witnesses called in the hearing.

The four-day hearing will commence, at 10am, in Court 1 at the Court of Session in Edinburgh before Lady Paton and Lord Matthews.
