Emergency call after object sighted off Deerness

Kirkwall Coastguard Rescue Team and Kirkwall Lifeboat were tasked to a possible sighting of an upturned kayak a nautical mile east of Deerness yesterday afternoon.
A UK Coastguard spokesman explained that the lifeboat crew located the object, which was found to be a dead dolphin.
The incident was described as a false alarm with good intent.
