Environmental partnership launch biodiversity consultation
Orkney’s environmental planning partnership is seeking public views on its local biodiversity action plan.
The plan sets out what can be done locally to protect species and habitats which have been identified as being at risk.
The Community Planning Environmental Partnership’s Biodiversity Steering Group is made up of, among others, Orkney Islands Council, Scottish Natural Heritage, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
The document is available at www.orkney.gov.uk and at OIC Customer Services in Kirkwall, the Council Cash Office in Stromness and at Kirkwall and Stromness libraries.
The consultation runs until February 6, 2013. A member of OIC’s development and marine planning team will be available throughout this period to discuss the draft document, at customer services at the council offices in Kirkwall.
