Orkney’s Fereday history project prize has been featured in a national publication.

The School Library Association’s A Time and a Place: Local Studies and the School Library describes the Fereday scheme, and the role of school librarians in it, as local studies work at its best.

The Orkney Heritage Society awards the Fereday Prize to secondary school pupils each year for local history research investigations.

Frances Sinclair, chartered librarian at Stromness Academy, completed a case study on the projects in the school and submitted it to the School Library Association (SLA).
