Flotta trail’s official opening

A new nature and history walk is to be officially opened in Flotta today, Saturday.

Launching the trail, which provides a route around the west and south coasts of the island, will by Richard Shearer, whose grandfather served in Flotta during World War One.

The pathways have been created thanks to the assistance of local landowners and farmers, and take in the moorland of West Hill, the dramatic scenery of Stanger Head as well as the surrounding wildlife and wartime archaeology.
