Folk Festival Open Stage winner

The winner of Saturday’s Folk Festival Open stage was 15-year-old guitarist Griogair Morrison.

The open stage saw a high standard on the day, with all six entrants to the competition thoroughly impressing the judges and the audience in the Stromness Town Hall.

After some deliberation, it was Griogair, from Stromness, who won over the judges with his friendly stage presence and high level of technical skill on the guitar.

Second place went to The Bossack Band, with a joint third place going to singer Kate Howe and guitarist/singer Emily Bourn.
