General Election voting reminders
With four days to go until the General Election the elections team across Orkney and Shetland are reminding voters to check where their polling station is.
Postal voters are also being encouraged to return their completed votes as soon as possible
In Orkney there’s been a change in polling station for voters in Evie. Voters should now go to the Evie Church on polling day to cast their vote.
Postal voters should take time to ensure they have completed the postal voting statement correctly, making sure they have signed the statement and filled in the box for their date of birth.
If you run out of time to post your vote back you can hand them into a polling station or the Council Offices in Kirkwall — but this needs to be done before 10pm on polling day, Thursday, June 8.
As Orkney and Shetland forms one constituency for the purposes of the UK General Election, all the votes are counted together to produce one result for the constituency.
This time around the votes will be counted in Kirkwall, with the Shetland votes being transported to Orkney after the close of poll for the overnight count at KGS.
A result is expected before breakfast time on Friday, June 9.
