Get Ready to Rock

Orkney’s annual rock festival is set to hit Kirkwall with a bang this weekend, promising three days of music and mayhem.

The first event of this year’s Orkney Rock Festival, the festival ‘appetiser’, is due to take place tonight in the Torvhaug from 8pm.

This kicks off a series of gigs and shows featuring a stellar line-up of bands, both from here in Orkney and further afield.

This year’s line-up is made up of more acts than ever before, as nine visiting bands join the wealth of local talent.

Tonight’s event will see locals Saltfishfilthy get things started, with gigs to follow in venues around Kirkwall, over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Orkney Rock Festival, which is sponsored by The Orcadian, is now in it’s fourth year.
