Greenland trawler towed to Kirkwall
The Scapa-based tug Harald was called to assist when a Greenland-registered trawler suffered engine problems to the east of Sanday.
The 40-metre Chr Hoy, which was on route from Fraserburgh to the Faroe Islands, with nine crew on board, was taken under tow by the Harald and brought alongside Kirkwall Pier on Saturday morning.
David Sawkins, from Orkney Islands Council Marine Services, said: “With light winds and calm sea conditions the trawler was in no immediate danger. We’re pleased that the Harald was able to provide help and assistance in bringing the vessel safely into port.”
