Joint information event for housing tenants

Orkney Housing Association and Orkney Islands Council (OIC) are inviting their tenants and sharing owners along to a special information event to be held tomorrow in the Kirkwall Town Hall.

The council says the aim of the event is to hear from tenants and sharing owners what they feel are the key issues affecting them.

Suzy Boardman, resident participation co-ordinator said: “Tenants and sharing owners can come along for the whole day or just drop-in for particular sessions where they can find out about how to get involved in, and voice their opinion on, their housing issues.

“On the day, folk can find out about issues such as repairs and maintenance, the allocation of properties and how Welfare Reform will affect tenants.

“There will be a whole range of information on offer, as well as representatives from fantastic organisations like Job Centre plus, Orkney Zero Waste and the Get IT Together project who will be holding online gaming demonstrations.”

The event runs from 11am until 4pm.
