‘Incredible’ Orkney beef stakes a claim to world title
An Orkney farm is celebrating a unique double after its “world-class” beef was selected to be showcased at a prestigious international competition which puts the world’s finest steak cuts to the test.
The Orcadian this week, which is out this afternoon, tells the story of how “incredible” Aberdeen Angus beef from Stewart and Gareth Wood, of Garson Farms in Sandwick, will be entered into the World Steak Challenge in September.
East Lothian-based John Gilmour Butcher examined and analysed over 1,000 cuts of beef before they picked out the two pieces, both of which coincidentally came from Garson.
Such is the quality of the meat, they believe they are in contention to win the competition.
