International conference focuses on renewables and the environment
The potential impact of marine renewable technology on the environment will come under the microscope when three Scottish universities come together to host an international conference, in Orkney, next week.
The three-day conference on the Environmental Interactions of Marine Renewable Energy Technologies, (EIMR) 2012Â aims to review leading research from around the world and come to an understanding on whether, and how, emerging technologies might affect coastlines and the seabed, as well as marine animals and seabirds and the human communities living in the areas where development is expected to take place.
Delegates are due to arrive in Orkney from around the world, including from the Pacific and Atlantic areas of North America and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as well as Europe and Scandinavia.
