Island Games competitors set to receive OIC grant
Orkney competitors and officials at the 2015 Island Games in Jersey will each receive a £100 grant from the OIC.
A report before the OIC’s education, leisure and housing committee this week said it is anticipated that 100 competitors will represent Orkney at the games across 11 sports including archery, athletics, badminton, cycling, golf, sailing, small bore shooting, clay pigeon shooting, swimming, triathlon and volleyball.
The cost of attending the games is estimated to be about £835 per competitor.
The committee’s decision will now go to next month’s meeting of the full council for ratification.
