Isles parliamentarians announce Orkney Digital Forum date

Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael and Orkney MSP Liam McArthur have announced that the Northern Isles Digital Forum will take place on July 26 in Kirkwall.

The forum will be held at the St Magnus Centre from 1pm to 3pm. Speaking at the event will be director of BT Scotland Brendan Dick, director of Highlands and Islands Enterprise’s digital policy Stuart Robertson and Jamie Stewart from the Countryside Alliance.

Mr Carmichael said: “The digital forum will provide Orcadians with a chance to learn more about the £146 million that is being spent in the Highlands and Islands and what Orkney should realistically expect to get from the deal. Details have so far been few and far between so I am sure that local people will want to come along and hear the plans for the isles.

“I am also pleased to welcome the Countryside Alliance for their first appearance at the Digital Forum to discuss their on-going campaigning efforts to improve rural mobile phone services.”
