Full-time Laboratory Technician

for our Environmental Unit based in Flotta, Orkney.

This would be an excellent opportunity to start or change your
career and learn to develop the skills required to support the
environmental testing process. School leavers with an interest
in science are welcome to apply also.

You will be supported by the environmental team and exposed to all areas of the testing phase. This will act as the foundation to support you through your training and development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out laboratory work and general duties as directed by
the Senior Study Director.

• Assist with a variety of tasks supporting ecotoxicology studies.

• Maintain cultures of algae, crustaceans and other organisms.

• Assist in routine equipment maintenance and water
system checks.

• Work to a high standard of quality accreditation, Good
Laboratory Practice (GLP). Training will be provided.

• Liaise closely with other environmental staff with regard to
test support.

• Assist in field work and in other areas as required.
