A 24-hour challenge to support CLAN Cancer Support gets under way today, Friday.

Marty Flett will be cycling for 24 hours alongside ultra-distance runner William Sichel around the Pickaquoy Centre running track.

Marty said: “Having been involved with CLAN Cancer Support in Orkney for a few years now, I have seen how the health and wellbeing groups such as health walks, gentle yoga and healthy-eating courses add to the whole wellbeing of those affected by cancer.

“If you would like to kick-start your own fitness programme, please join us for a peedie while on the track — running or cycling.  Contact CLAN on 873393 to register your name. It would also be great to see a few folk chivvy us on throughout the challenge.”

The pair would be delighted if anyone would like to join them for an hour or two during their challenge, which begins at noon today before relocating to CLAN’s stand at the County Show on Saturday morning.
