Junior inter-county squad aiming for Stuart Cup glory

The annual junior inter-county contest between Orkney and Shetland is due to commence today, with Orkney

aiming to retain the coveted Stuart Cup.

The tournament, now in its 66th year, is being held in Shetland this year, with the athletics contest kicking off proceedings.

It will be followed by the netball and football matches, before the hockey clash tomorrow morning.

The 2013 event will then be rounded off with the swimming event on Monday afternoon.

Orkney won the tournament on home soil last year, with an overall score of 207-184, and will claim the trophy for the 33rd time — equalling Shetland’s Stuart Cup haul — if they win it this year.

Results will be posted on The Orcadian website as the tournament progresses.
