Just over a week left to enter Battle of the Bands

Time is running out to enter Battle of the Bands! The competition is due to take place in March, and we are looking for bands of all ages, styles and abilities to take part.

The good news is: registration has been extended until Friday, January 25, to allow more bands to come forward.

The Orcadian has joined forces with The Sound Archive and Orkney Live Wire (OLW) to resurrect the competition, which last took place in 2008.

Bands are being encouraged to register NOW.

The heats and final of the competition will take place in mid-March.

New for 2019 will be a crowd-voting element, where each person attending will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite band on the night.

Full details of the overall prize are yet to be announced, but the winners will be invited to make a three-track demo with Stewart Shearer at Iolair Sound Studio in Kirkwall.

The winners will also be presented with The Orcadian’s Battle of the Bands Trophy, following in the footsteps of Peter’s Finger, Blindspot and Chugg.
