KGS head teacher to leave post

Orkney Islands Council is advising staff and parents with children at
Kirkwall Grammar School that the head teacher, Gordon McDonald, will
be leaving his post with the Council.

His departure from the Council will be effective from the end of this
term and has been agreed under normal terms and conditions of service.

Staff and pupils were advised of this during meetings at the school
today. Pupils have been given letters to take home to parents. Parents
in the isles, and parents whose children were absent from school
today, have been advised to look out for a letter in the post.

Working with the Parent Council, Orkney Islands Council will be
beginning the recruitment process early in the New Year for the
position of Head Teacher at KGS.
