Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council elects chair and vice

A secret ballot at Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council on Monday night saw Bryan Taylor re-elected as chairman, with George Eunson taking over as vice-chairman.

Mr Taylor received eight votes, while Alastair MacLeod and George Eunson each received two votes.

There were four names in the hat for vice-chairman — George Eunson, seven votes; Alastair MacLeod, three votes, and Isobel Scholes and David Dawson each received one vote.

While vowing to “do his best” for Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council, Mr Taylor welcomed the new community councillors and councillors to the meeting — the first since the elections.

“I am delighted to see the councillors here — please do come to our community councils, you are the people that makes the decisions eventually,” Mr Taylor said.
