FireworksNov2011_018
The organisers of the annual bonfire and fireworks display would like to remind attendees to stay safe while they enjoy the event.

Kirkwall’s annual bonfire and fireworks display will take place this year on Saturday, November 2, at the usual location of the Peedie Sea.

The event will kick off with the Kirkwall city pipe band playing from 7pm, after which the the bonfire will be lit by Chair of the Kirkwall and St Ola Community Council, Bryan Taylor, and the local Rotary Club President, George Eunson, at 7.15pm. The firework display will start at 7.30pm.

The Community Council would like to remind parents that they are responsible for their children at the event and would also ask that spectators do not bring sparklers to the display as they can be dangerous in crowded areas. It is also asked that those attending do not bring dogs to the event as the noise from the fireworks can disturb animals.

Members of the public are advised that some of the paths at the Peedie Sea will be closed earlier in the day to allow for the setting up of the display and it is asked that no one attempt approach the event via the middle path at the Peedie Sea on the night.
