Kirkwall Business Improvement District manager appointed
Kirkwall Business Improvement District (BID) steering group has appointed Anthea Hume as manager of the initiative.
The BID, which was created following a ballot in January this year, aims to create a strong trading environment in the town centre and maintain a sustainable and vibrant atmosphere for local businesses and their customers.
Anthea, who as well as having nine years experience in administrative roles at Orkney Islands Council, was more recently the Orkney area manager for the 2011 Scotland Census, and project manager for Deerness in 100 Objects, said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as manager of the Kirkwall BID project and am looking forward to working with BID members and the wider Orkney public to identify ways to celebrate and promote Kirkwall’s unique town centre and ensure it continues to thrive.”
