Kirkwall-Stromness road closed following bus fire

The Kirkwall to Stromness road has been closed to traffic following a bus fire between Quanterness and Rennibister.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and use the Old Finstown Road until the road re-opens.

The incident was reported around 4.20pm and police and fire crews made their way to the scene.

According to a police spokesman there were only three passengers on the bus at the time and no-one is believed to have been injured.

He added that the road will remain closed until at 6pm at the earliest.
