Lifeboat and Coastguards called out to overdue diver

Kirkwall Lifeboat and Coastguard rescue teams were involved in a search for an overdue diver off The Ness of Ork, Shapinsay, today.

However, a spokesman confirmed that the diver had swam ashore and phoned the Coastguard to advise he was safe and well.

He later returned to his vessel, which was returning to Kirkwall.
