Literary treats

The GMB Fellowship and Orkney Library and Archive have joined forces to present some literary treats for all ages.

Today, award-winning poet and novelist, Christine De Luca, will give a children’s reading at Orkney Library and archive from 11am to 12pm. Later, at 7pm, Christine will read poetry and extracts from her recent novel, And then forever.

At the beginning of Christine’s evening reading, she will announce the prize winners in the first Young Orkney Writers’ Prize, and there will be readings from the competition entries.

This brand new competition, run jointly by Orkney Library and Archive and the GMB Fellowship, has attracted over 100 entries across two age categories, with an impressively high standard achieved.

Entry to the GMB Memorial Lecture and Christine De Luca’s evening reading is £5 (£3 concessions) at the door. The children’s event is aimed at ages four to seven, and entry is free.
