Loganair celebrates 50th anniversary at Kirkwall Airport
A gold-painted Britten-Norman Islander was the star attraction at Kirkwall Airport today, as Loganair celebrated the company’s 50th anniversary.
A number of dignitaries were in attendance at Kirkwall Airport, including managing director of Loganair Jonathan Hinkles, former Loganair chairman Scott Grier OBE and Orkney Island Council’s civic leader Harvey Johnston, as part of the celebrations.
A plaque was also unveiled, celebrating 50 years of Orkney Islands air services.
The Golden Islander, which has been the mainstay of the airline fleet in delivering its services to Orkney’s North Isles, set off from Kirkwall this morning, to ‘hop’ between Westray, Papa Westray, Stronsay, Sanday, North Ronaldsay and Eday.
