Loganair launches new islander discount

Loganair aircraft at Kirkwall Airport.

Lower airline fares are touching down in Orkney later this month, according to Loganair, which has today unveiled new islander discounts on selected routes.

This includes fares from £80 between Kirkwall and Edinburgh up to the day of travel (availability permitting).

The discounted flights, which Loganair says it has introduced to encourage travellers impacted by the heightened cost of living, are only available to island residents signed up to the Air Discount Scheme (ADS).

The new fare scheme starts from as low as £50 one-way for Stornaway to Inverness, including all taxes and charges.

Loganair has been working to find ways to help residents of the island communities it serves to travel more frequently at reasonable cost — recognising that fuller flights will help to share the burden of increased running costs such as fuel.

The new islander fares are subject to availability and applicable on selected flights including return trips from Sumburgh to Aberdeen or Dundee, Stornoway to Edinburgh or Inverness, and finally Kirkwall to Edinburgh.

Luke Lovegrove, Loganair’s chief commercial officer, said: “We’ve listened to our customers and worked on a plan to deliver lower fares across several routes for the largest island communities we serve.

“The new islander fares will be available up to the day of departure, unless sold out, so we’re encouraging our customers to book as early as possible to avoid any disappointment.”

Only ADS eligible customers will be able to access the new fares, and customers will need to log in to the ADS portal via Loganair’s website to view availability of these fares before then selecting specific flights.
