Mega mushroom unearthed in ‘Hope garden

A gigantic mushroom has sprung up in a St Margaret’s Hope garden.
Dicovered by Shani Patching, the fantastic fungus is understood to be a giant puffball mushroom, measuring at over a foot across.
The foraging enthusiast was delighted to find such a tremendous specimen in her garden.
She said: “With autumn comes the broad variety of wild mushrooms and fungi. Orkney has a fantastic selection of all different kinds of mushrooms and fungi and interest in mycology is expanding.”
