New chairman for St Magnus International Festival

George Rendall has stepped down as chairman of the board of St Magnus International Festival after 20 years in the post.

Mr Rendall joined the committee of the festival in 1985, taking responsibility for publicity and then becoming treasurer, before succeeding Archie Bevan as chairman in 1992.

He will be succeeded by local architect and festival board member, Leslie Burgher.

Mr. Burgher said “George has given exceptional long service to the festival, which has become a widely known and respected event. We look forward to continuing the festival’s traditions of combining artists of international stature with original commissions and community involvement, coming together to create a magical midsummer week.”
