New website launched for cruise visitors
A new website has been launched aimed a giving cruise ship passengers a central point of information before they arrive in Orkney.
Apart from the publishing of the cruise ship arrival lists on the OIC Marine Services website www.orkneyharbours.com, up until now there has been no other central point of pre-arrival information for cruise ship passengers and crew arriving in Orkney.
To put this right www.cruise-orkney.com has now been launched.
This aim of this site is to provide passengers and crew and cruise line representatives with pre-arrival information on the destination, in particular on shuttle bus operations, shopping and local transport information and other useful points which Marine Services constantly receive email and telephone call enquiries.
Michael Morrison, business development manager with OIC Marine Services said: “The website will be an evolving site, and we will react positively to comments and feedback on how it can be improved and developed and therefore feedback is important to us at the Harbour Authority.
“The Kirkwall Business Improvement District (BID) has a direct link from this site to give passengers and crew information on local retail therapy and opportunity; this concept will be developed also for Stromness and other areas of Orkney. It is hoped that the website will provide pre-arrival information that the cruise industry and stakeholders find both helpful and useful.”
Cruise information will also continue to be uploaded onto www.orkneyharbours.com
