NHSO shares operational plans for Queen’s funeral
NHS Orkney has shared plans for medical services during the national day of mourning for HM the Queen’s state funeral on Monday, September 19.
The day is due to be recognised as an exceptional bank holiday.
However, the Scottish Government has advised health boards that all scheduled appointments should be maintained as far as practicable based on patient choice and staffing resources to deliver services.
The details for NHS Orkney services on Monday are as follows:
- Mainland GP Surgeries: Open (some practices may be shut during the hours of the funeral, a phone answering system will be in place throughout this time).
- Ferry Linked Isles GP Surgeries: Closed.
- Pharmacies:
- Boots, The Chemist, Kirkwall: Closed
- Sutherlands Kirkwall: Closed between 10am and 1pm.
- Sutherlands Stromness: Closed between 10am and 1pm.
- Dounby Pharmacy: Closed between 10am and 1pm.
- Kirkwall Vaccination Centre, Theatres, Outpatients and Dental Practice at The Balfour: All operating as normal, if you have an appointment for any of these areas, please turn up as scheduled.
- Deyanov Dental: Open
- Clyde Munro Practices: Closed, patients of Clyde Munro Practices should access urgent care via NHS 24.
- Clark Optometrist: Closed.
If you do have a scheduled non-critical appointment and would rather it be rescheduled out of respect, you are asked to get in touch via the contact details on your appointment letter/with the individual practice or department as soon as possible.
